California Home School Network--Although based in California, this organization has several useful resources for homeschoolers wherever they may live. Information includes websites, businesses, and publications of interest.

Crosswalk.com Homeschooling Channel: Advice and resources for home schoolers with a Christian focus.

Homeschooling at About.com: Guide directed link site. Includes monthly funday calendar, unit study directory, cooking with kids, Homeschooling 101 and lots of links.

Home Schooling Resources: Links to newsgroups, websites, articles, and journals mostly pertaining to science.

Home School Zone: Community of homeschoolers and other educators offering advice, resources, and more.

Multnomah County Library Homeschooling Page: This library, located in Oregon, provides useful links as well as some book lists.

Your Virtual Homeschool: A large variety of links to various homeschooling resources including message boards, support groups, unit studies, and special needs.

Magazines

Eclectic Homeschool Online: Website of the magazine for creative homeschoolers (Christian perspective).

HEM Online: Website of Home Education Magazine.

Homefires: The Journal of Homeschooling Online. This California based journal offers guides, virtual conferences, workshops, articles, books, merchandise, and email lists.

Home Schooling Today Magazine

Home Schooling World: The official website of Practical Homeschooling Magazine. This site includes a store for home school resources, forums, and several articles.

The Teaching Home: Official website of the magazine for Christian home educators.

Illinois Organizations

Christian Home Educators Coalition: An Illinois organization of Christian homeschoolers working to preserve home education in Illinois.

Illinois Christian Home Educators: Illinois law, event information, book store, support groups, articles, and a discussion board are among the features on this site.

Illinois H.O.U.S.E. (Home Oriented Unique Schooling Experience): This useful site contains resources, booklists, and articles geared toward Illinois homeschoolers. Includes a field trip guide.

National Organizations

Home School Legal Defense Association: Legal and legislative issues of interest to homeschoolers.

National Home Education Research Institute: Statistics and other useful information.

Educational and Other Sites of Interest

Discovery School: A must see site for homeschoolers. From the Discovery Channel family comes this site chock full of useful information for parents, teachers, and students. Educational games, study tools, advice, curriculum resources, lesson plans, and reviews are just a small portion of what is available at this useful site. Be sure to check out all the sections!

Ed Helper: Worksheets and units on many different subjects.

50states.com: Lots of information on the different states.

Fun School: Fun learning activities for children from toddler to twelve.

How Stuff Works: Articles about exactly that!

Learning Planet: Educational games and activities.

School Express: Over 6,000 free worksheets on various subjects.

Teaching Treasures: From Australia comes this site with interactive online activities and worksheets. There is also a section on Christian homeschooling (though most of the online materials would be suitable for all types of homeschooling).

The Internet is a wonderful resource for home educators. There are many, many more resources than can be given on this list. Many of the pages given have links to more sites. You can also do more searches for information.  One good search engine is Google. You can also check out search engines page for more.
